BWT bestmax — the water that coffee taste stands on
A universal filter cartridge for coffee machines, vending and beverage dispensers. Five-stage filtration protects the appliance against limescale and, through activated carbon, pulls chlorine and off-tastes out of the water — the espresso then has a clean taste, aroma and crema. Six sizes tailored to your operation, with a shared BWT besthead FLEX connection head.
5-stage filtration
From a coarse pre-filter through activated carbon to a fine particle filter. Complete treatment in a single cartridge.
Limescale protection
Reduces the carbonate hardness of the water — less limescale in the boiler, a longer coffee-machine life, fewer downtimes.
Clean taste through activated carbon
Eliminates chlorine, organic substances and off-tastes. The water doesn't disturb the taste of coffee or tea.
Filtration plus bypass
On the besthead FLEX head you set the blend of feed water and target the hardness. Mounts vertically or horizontally.
How the water passes through the filter — 5 stages
- Particle pre-filter — catches coarse impurities, rust and sand.
- Pre-filter with activated carbon and silver — removes oxidants, protects the ion exchanger.
- High-performance ion exchanger — reduces the carbonate hardness (limescale).
- Activated-carbon fabric — eliminates organic substances, chlorine and off-tastes.
- Fine particle filter — separates fine and suspended particles.
Which size to choose
Choose the size according to the volume of your operation — the larger the filter, the greater the filtration capacity and the longer the replacement interval. The capacity below is a guide value for a coffee machine/vending unit at a carbonate water hardness of 10 °dKH; the exact capacity depends on the hardness of your water (measured with the enclosed test kit, calculated by the BWT app).

Connection — besthead FLEX
All bestmax sizes connect through the universal BWT besthead FLEX head. You buy the head once and then change the cartridges as needed — which is why it pays to get a proper one.
- Tool-free FLEX technology — the fittings snap in (push-to-fit) and turn in 30° steps for any installation.
- EASY Bypass — water-blend setting with a lock and a readable scale (0–3). Press and turn.
- EASY Vent — an integrated vent and flushing valve, simple and reliable.
- Cartridge change without shutting off the water — check valves on inlet and outlet.

For every installation we strongly recommend the BWT AQA monitor — a digital water meter that tracks the volume of water passed through. So you know exactly when to change the filter: not by guesswork, but by real consumption. No filter thrown out too early and no limescale from an expired filter.
