BWT bestmax PREMIUM — water for true gourmets
Premium filter cartridge for coffee machines and hot-drink preparation. To five-stage filtration it adds the patented BWT Magnesium Technology — it enriches the water back with magnesium, a carrier of taste. Coffee, espresso and tea then gain a fuller aroma and flavour. Five sizes, a shared BWT besthead FLEX connection head.
Magnesium remineralisation
The patented technology enriches the filtrate with magnesium in exchange for calcium. Magnesium = the carrier of water's taste.
5-stage filtration
From a coarse pre-filter through activated carbon to a fine particle filter. Complete treatment in one cartridge.
Protection against limescale
Reduces water hardness — less limescale in the boiler, longer machine life, fewer downtimes.
Maximum sensory quality
Activated carbon removes chlorine and off-tastes, magnesium adds fullness. The water doesn't interfere but underlines the coffee's taste.
How the water passes through the filter — 5 stages
- Particle pre-filter — catches coarse impurities, rust and sand.
- Pre-filter with activated carbon and silver — removes oxidants, protects the ion exchanger.
- High-performance ion exchanger + BWT Magnesium Technology — reduces hardness and enriches the water with magnesium in exchange for calcium.
- Activated-carbon textile — eliminates organic substances, chlorine and off-tastes.
- Fine particle filter — separates fine and suspended particles.
Mg²⁺ — why PREMIUM instead of standard
Standard bestmax only reduces hardness. PREMIUM additionally enriches the water back with magnesium — which is the carrier of taste and gives coffee a fuller, rounder profile. The choice for operations where the taste in the cup is decisive.
Which size to choose
Choose the size according to your operation's volume — the larger the filter, the greater the filtration capacity and the longer the replacement interval. The capacity below is a guide value for a coffee machine/vending at a total water hardness of 10 °dTH; the exact capacity depends on the hardness of your water (measure it with the enclosed test kit, the BWT app calculates it).

Connection — besthead FLEX
All sizes connect via the universal head BWT besthead FLEX. You buy the head once, then change the cartridges as needed — that's why it pays to have a solid one.
- Tool-free FLEX technology — the fittings click in (push-to-fit), you rotate them in 30° steps for any installation.
- EASY Bypass — water cut setting with a lock and a legible scale (0–3). Press and turn.
- EASY Vent — integrated venting and flushing valve, simple and reliable.
- Cartridge change without interrupting the water — check valves on both inlet and outlet.

Installing filtration? Measure water consumption
For every installation we strongly recommend the BWT AQA monitor — a digital water meter that tracks the volume of water that has passed through. So you know exactly when to change the filter: not by estimate, but by real consumption. No prematurely discarded filter and no limescale from an expired filter.
