BWT bestprotect — protection against limescale and gypsum
A filter cartridge for coffee machines and hot drinks where an ordinary filter isn't enough. Besides carbonate hardness (limescale) it also addresses sulphates — i.e. gypsum deposits, which are difficult to remove from the appliance. Balanced mineralisation and stable pH additionally reduce the risk of corrosion. Insoluble deposits in the machine are a thing of the past.
Limescale and gypsum
It prevents deposits from carbonates (limescale) and from sulphates (gypsum) — which ordinary filters can't do.
Protection against corrosion
Balanced mineralisation and a consistently high pH of the filtrate reduce the risk of corrosion in the appliance.
5-stage filtration
From a coarse pre-filter through activated carbon to a fine particle filter. Complete treatment in one cartridge.
Clean taste
Activated carbon with silver removes chlorine, organic substances and off-tastes. The water won't spoil the coffee's taste.
How the water passes through the filter — 5 stages
- Particle pre-filter — catches coarse impurities, rust and sand.
- Pre-filter with activated carbon and silver — removes oxidants, protects the ion exchanger.
- High-performance ion exchanger — reduces hardness and adjusts the mineral balance (protection against limescale, gypsum and corrosion).
- Textile with activated carbon and silver — eliminates organic substances, chlorine and off-tastes.
- Fine particle filter — separates fine and suspended particles.
When to choose bestprotect instead of bestmax
If your water contains sulphates (gypsum hardness) or you're dealing with corrosion, bestprotect is the right choice — bestmax only addresses carbonate hardness. Don't know what water you have? Send us an analysis or measure with a test kit, we'll recommend.

Choose the size according to your operation's volume. The capacity below is a guide for preparing hot drinks at a total water hardness of 10 °dH. bestprotect operates without a bypass and is mounted vertically.

Connection — besthead FLEX
bestprotect connects via the universal head BWT besthead FLEX. You buy the head once, then change the cartridges as needed.

- Cartridge change without interrupting the water — check valves on both inlet and outlet.

For every installation we strongly recommend the BWT AQA monitor — a digital water meter that tracks the volume of water that has passed through. So you know exactly when to change the filter: by real consumption, not by estimate.
